David Allred Joins the Practice

I grew up in Asheboro, North Carolina, a small town located in the central part of the state. I received a B.S. in Molecular Biology from Appalachian State University, and then later my DVM from North Carolina State University. During my time in undergraduate school, I began riding with a mixed large animal veterinarian, who focused on beef cattle production. It was this experience that prompted my interest in pursuing a career in large animal medicine. Throughout veterinary school, I worked at the school farm where I was responsible for taking care of all of the livestock. I was also president of several clubs, including the school chapter of the AABP, and was involved in other extracurricular school events. During the holidays and summers, I traveled and rode with beef and dairy veterinarians in NC, WY, CO, ID, OR, CA, NM, SD and TX. It was these experiences that led me to becoming a dairy veterinarian. My interests lie primarily in milk quality and production economics.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, fishing and traveling.
